Stranded, an abandoned site.
An industrial relic from 1928, its quartz production long silent.
Could it house something special?
Once a beacon of industrial progress, the building now exists as a threshold between history and an indeterminate future. In this era of liminality - where certainty dissolves into possibility - such spaces invite a radical reimagining of our built environment.
This project probes the transformative potential of adaptive reuse as a response to pressing socio-ecological challenges, while questioning the reduction of architecture to mere financial commodity.
By reconfiguring remnants of the past, we evoke the spirit of The Great Repair and embody Turner’s vision of transitional spaces. The re-envisioned site thus emerges as a microcosm of broader global dilemmas, affirming that even abandoned industrial vestiges can be reborn to address contemporary needs while honoring their historic and environmental legacies.
